Other Type 8 Features on This Plane

Lever Cap

Note the keyhole shape in the Lever Cap. Later versions of Stanley planes beginning with Type 16 had the newer “improved” pear or kidney shaped hole.

Short Front Knob

This plane has the shorter front knob, most likely made from Rosewood, which is appropriate for this vintage plane (1899-1902)

Stanley began using the taller front knobs in the early 1920s.
